We only use natural refrigerants such as air for the ULT chamber, and CO2 and propane for the sluice zone. This guarantees the use of our ULT solutions for decades, regardless of the phase-out of synthetic refrigerants.

Innovative technology with only one compressor compared to cascade systems that depend on the operation of multiple compressors. Our technology is phase change free, oil free and wear free due to air bearing.

This is how the KTI air chiller works in our ultra-low temperature warehouse

The air chiller operates in an open circuit. It draws in air that may contain ice crystals and dirt from inside the cold room, cleans it with two redundant filters, cools it and finally blows the air back into the cold room. A distribution system evenly distributes the expanded cold air throughout the cold room. This results in an extremely homogeneous temperature distribution throughout the room. Due to the extremely low temperature at the intake, the dew point temperature is lowered by up to 20 K. This means that the products are stored in a very short time. This means that the products are stored in a particularly dry environment.

Air as a natural refrigerant - pure sustainability The ULT mobile warehouse uses an innovative, efficient and sustainable air cycle refrigeration technology. The chiller is based on the Joule-Bryton process with air as the only refrigerant. With a maximum overpressure of 1 bar, this is an extremely safe and stable process. At its core is an oil-free compressor-expander unit that compresses and expands on the same shaft for energy recovery. The key advantage: air as a refrigerant is natural, always available and free of charge, non-toxic, Non combustible and harmless to humans and the environment!

Highest operational reliability through innovation

One of the most common causes of refrigeration system failure is compressor damage. The reasons include liquid refrigerant entering the compressor or insufficient lubrication due to lack of oil or poor oil quality. In addition, in cascade systems for low-temperature plants, several compressors have to operate simultaneously, which increases the probability of failure.

Advantage of the KTI technology: Our technology has no phase change, no oil and is wear-free with its air bearing. This guarantees the highest level of reliability.
