Sometimes the requirements on the final mixing temperature of the concrete is so low that it can be reached only by cooling the sand, even though the water is cooled down to 1 °C, the maximum amount of ice is added and all aggregates are cooled as much as possible. This is the most expensive solution for concrete cooling systems. It requires a sophisticated set-up to cool the sand either in rotary cooling drums or in the sand silos. These are non-standard solutions and special custom-designed cooling systems have to be developed and applied for each individual project.
The refrigeration part of the equipment is basically the same as for the aggregate cooling system.
