Depending on the design of the dam it might be required to cool the concrete after it has been poured. This is done by pumping cold water through a piping system inside the dam. For this regular containerized water chillers are used. The design water outlet temperature from the chiller is 5°C, the return temperature is designed for 10°C.
These chillers are built similar to the chillers for cooling the mixing water. During the construction of the dam they are relocated frequently depending on the progress of the works.
